Sorry I haven't blogged in soo long, I am really busy, almost ready to move house, I'm still organising our wedding and on top of that I had an interview and I have got a new job which I will be starting in the new year, so it is really busy. It will be a new chapter in my life-new house, new job and new husband in February :) Hope you will all continue to follow my blog and my adventures in my new home, new job, almost a new life....

Curtain material....
I have picked this material for my curtains in the snug. We have two windows and my aunt makes curtains so she will be making them for us :) They are traditional, both nice and bright too :)
Mirror mirror on the wall
Today we stopped by Argos and bought this mirror for my downstairs toilet. I thought it was pretty. Hope you all had a nice weekend. It's great just to get some time off work and time to relax.
Almost ready to move....
Some images of my new home below. We are still waiting to get the electricity connected but apart from that we can start to move in. We are really looking forward to it. I have been designing my wedding invitations tonight too :) I think they are looking nice too, if I must say so myself.
Canopy and tiles in the kitchen
New wood beam in place. I am picking wallpaper for the two side walls, rather than paint the walls different colours.
New stairs in place, there are men varnishing them this week, they are almost finished. We haven't decided if we are going to put carpet up the middle yet.
Doors varnished, the glass is ready to be installed this week.
Things are progressing so quick. I have so many things to do this week, the list is getting longer day by day.
Soon ready to get cooking....
Some more images of my new kitchen and utility. The middle photograph is the utility and the other two are of my new kitchen. I am still awaiting the legs for my canopy and my washing machine. Hope you are all having a nice weekend. It's a bank holiday here in Ireland so I'm really pleased about that :)
Come for a stroll with me...
This is just up the road from my new home, a short hop, skip and jump...
Along the lake shore, taking in all the scenery as you go...
the views, the tranquility...
along the gravel path...
and back home again...
and then to sit down and look at this out the back window...
Oh to live in the countryside and take it all in!!
Before and after images....
Some before and after images, not quiet finished yet though!
1 and 2 are images of my main entrance hall which is double height, I have yet to get my stairs,as you can see from the images above we have moved the old wooden steps out and replaced with a ladder for a while. Number 3 is my study/library which is up in the eaves. It's my hidden room and all that is left is the light, skirting board and door. I used some laminate flooring my dad had left over from his house.
Some Cute Cushions...
How pretty are these cushions all under €20.00 from Heatons, my favourite is the the one on the top left- so delicate and sweet isn't it? I hope you are all having a lovely weekend where ever you are!
Some kitchen inspiration....
Hope you are all having a nice weekend. Above are a few inspiration images for my new kitchen. I have picked a solid oak painted almond kitchen with wooden worktops, similiar to the images above. My cooker canopy will be similiar to the one above as well. I was going to put Dulux Duck egg on the walls but when I put the tester on, it was very blue so I'm thinking of going for the Dulux Renaissance colour above. I also hope to get a nice oilcloth like the floral one above and lots of nice accesories :)
Progress with the new home... painting has commenced...
Here are a few update photographs on progres with our new home. I took the photographs looking towards the radiators which will be located to the side of the beds. I have to buy flooring and more paint this weekend.
Master Bedroom in blue.
Bathroom which was meant to be Nordic Breeze a grey colour but when put on wall is more a shade of blue. I will get part of the bathroom tiled around the bath, shower and wash hand basin.
Spare Bedroom this room is painted all white but looks a little cream in this photograph. My boyfriend says he'd need to wear sunglasses going into this room but I assure him I will make it look nice.
Part of walk in wardrobe. I hope to have rails on this end and the opposite end and dressing table along the middle of the wall.
Spare bedroom 2. We painted this room Magnolia, again the bedwill room down along the front of the radiator.
Spare bedroom 3 again another bedroom painted cream.
This is my wee Study/ Library where I will keep all my books, papers and craft materials. This will be my hideaway.
Sunroom with high ceiling. This ceiling will be covered in wood and I would like one of the large IKEA light fittings for in here.
Garage
Stove in Snug. Sorry about the untidiness. We are buying a wooden beam for over the stove.
Utility area for sink, washing machine, microwave and storage leading to garage.
Dining area looking into sunroom.
Kitchen area. The sink will be along the window on the left hand side and the hob and cooker between the two windows.
Another view of kitchen. In the right corner I will have units and to the left of the door I will have a dresser unit and an island in the middle with seating.
Sitting Room which I have no yet decided what colour to paint.
So that's the update for you all, sorry it looks very disorganised. I have no photographs of the hallway entrance or landing area, storage room/hot press or down stairs toilet.
Handles...
I haven't had much time for blogging lately. I was at a wedding yesterday and a party today and during the week after work I'm busy making decisions on the house. I bought my internal doors this week, knotty pine cottage doors with the above handles for a modern twist. Painting is almost finished upstairs so I need to pick flooring next weekend. I'm thinking wooden floors for all the rooms upstairs apart from the bathroom. I hope you are all keeping well and apologies if I haven't stopped by your blogs in awhile but I will catch up soon :)
Some views from home...
Here are a few views I took while on my way home from Sligo last weekend. As I always say "the best part about going away is coming home" :)
More progress on my new home & life in general....
Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I'm very busy with work and planning the new house. I'm still painting the new house, I have most of the ceilings upstairs painted and today I went to the local hardware store to pick paints. I saw this lovely Nordic Breeze paint and thought oh yes that would look lovely in my bathroom ...
I thought it was a nice grey colour as per the inspiration booklet but it's much more blue than it first looked so I am going to pick a different paint for the bathroom, perhaps a greyer colour. I picked Little Blue for our bedroom as shown below. I like this shade of blue for the room along with the white ceilings as it is very calming. One of the other bedrooms is all white and I'm thinking Magnolia for some of the others. The study, walk in wardrobe and the storage room will be white also. I ordered my kitchen this week too :) Got the granite for under my wood burning stove as well. Almost all walls inside are now plastered.
I'm picking paint from Dulux so if any of you have any recommendations along with images of your rooms in those colours I would love to see them as I don't really know what to use and also they look alot different on the walls than in the booklet.
This is how my stove surround should look when completed- I'm hoping anyway!
Next I have to buy all internal doors.
I also bought a new car earlier this month as I do so much travelling for work and petrol was getting so expensive, I bought a diesel one.
As you can imagine I am trying to save every penny/ cent I have now. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. The weather is dull enough here in Ireland. What are you all up to for this weekend?
Kitchen decisions...
I have a plan got for my kitchen and having googled images on the internet I came across these images below from Woodale Designs that are very like my proposed kitchen. The cooker hood will be almost the same except I will have an oven underneath and spice drawers at the side of it. My island will be straight not curved as my budget won't stretch that far. I will also have a built in fridge and some presses at the end wall rather than the full presses here.
The plasterers are finishing off inside the house these days, we put an undercoat of PVA sealer on the walls, so it's time for painting at the weekend :) Yes, progress at last....

Kitchen Inspiration: White with A Pop of Colour
The kitchen is one the most important spaces in a home. Apart from indulging in all your epicurean fantasies, it is the place where one can enjoy some family camaraderie and have sit-down dinners with loved ones. Despite being a core factor in a home, the quintessential kitchen is often neglected in terms of design and tends to be more utilitarian than stylish. Give your kitchen a makeover without any hardcore remodeling and assuage the monotonous by injecting splashes of colour in your décor. Demonstrate a progressive sensibility by purchasing colourful dishware, going for accent walls or opting for trendy kitchen island lights.
Paint The Wall

The quickest way to inject color in a kitchen is to paint it in a bright shade. No need to paint the entire kitchen in vivid hues, as focusing on an accent wall achieves the same result. You can also paint the wood cabinets or the furniture in bright colours and opt for a sedate white for the walls. Or try the opposite, by opting for white lacquered kitchen accessories like a dining table, pendant lighting and flooring, and contrasting it with a brightly colored accent wall.
Colourful Backsplashes

Be it a traditional styled kitchen or something more mid-century modern, chances are, it has been done predominately in white. For that added dose of vibrancy and color, splurge on a kitchen backsplash in shades of chartreuse, champagne, and turquoise, as it will contrast wonderfully with white.
Purchase Signature Lighting Fixtures

Another nifty way to augment the kitchen décor is to purchase an avant-garde light fixture. Binge on a retro styled pendant light or opt for unconventional kitchen island lights. A little pop of color can insert vibrancy even in the most minimalistic kitchen.
Don’t Underestimate The Power Of Home Appliances

These days home appliances are the perfect mesh of form and function. Utilitarian purpose is no longer the key factor when designing appliances, as the market is flooded with colourful and funky home appliances. To introduce stunning splashes of colour in your kitchen, shop for appliances in pulsating colors.
Have A Seat

Upholster the kitchen chairs in any shade that catches your fancy. Don’t mind going on a shopping spree? Then select kitchen stools and chairs in vibrant hues like green, red and yellow, and place them next to a white countertop. Make sure to add colorful pendant lights into the mix. The contrasting colors will highlight a more harmonized design approach.
Kitchen Utensils

The cheapest way to add some hue in the kitchen is to flaunt brightly colored kitchen utensils. The utensils can range from pots and pans, to teapots, to bowls, to even oven mittens. But, just ensure they are displayed in plain sight.
Experiment With Cabinets

No kitchen is complete without cabinets or a shelving system. Update both and ditch the clichéd wooden tones and finishes. Instead, paint them in a bright hue or opt for a color-tinted stain, to make them juxtapose with the monochromatic colour scheme of the walls or the floor.
