Some of you may already know that my favourite colour is blue. I love pastel blues and sky blue too so it is no surprise that I love bright blue skies and the azure blues of the ocean... Where else would you get so many shades of blue than on the Greek Islands, be it Mykonos, Corfu, Kefalonia or Santorini. Below are some of my blue photos from my holidays to the wonderful Greek Island of Santorini- it is such a dreamy place...

A Blue, Grey and White Living Space...
My living room is now taking shape. I have been talking about it for a long time now. I was on the look out for an over mantle mirror for my living room but then I bought this canvas and have decided to use it instead of a mirror. It only cost €20.00. What do you think? I have changed it a bit now with two vases each side of the photo instead of the mixed items. I have tried to kept the room in different shades of blue, white and grey to watch the chairs, furniture and white marble fireplace.

I was also on the lookout for some nice cushions for the sofa and came across these cute paisley ones for €6.00 in Primark. I think they fit in very well and look more expensive than €6.00. Who doesn't love a bargain?
And finally I bought this cute baby blue lantern for a tea light in Primark as well. I need to paint/spray my lamp base and shade as it doesn't match the room but in time I'll do this. What do you think?

Interior Design
Finally my living room is almost complete. I just need a few items to finish the room including an over mantle mirror, TV, ceiling light fitting and curtain tiebacks. I'm thinking of painting the inside of the unit a crisp white, as it is ivory and looks quite cream next to the white marble fireplace. What do you think? Have you any ideas for my over mantle mirror or the light fitting? I hope to use this room over the Christmas season. I am now on my holidays from work so have lots of time to decorate the house for Christmas, I just need less rain so I can go pick ivy, moss and berries in the hedges. I will keep you posted on my DIY Christmas decor.
Things I like this Week....
I haven't posted much in the past few weeks but now that the Summer is over and the nights are getting longer, I will be posting more frequently. I haven't posted items I like in a long time so here goes. Below are a few items I like this week...
From top left:
1. Paris scene t-shirt which I purchased from Next (nice for lounging around in)
2. Really loving the Pip Studio tile collection based on classic lace patterns
3. A good read from Lesley Pearse- lots of love and heartbreak, thanks to my sister in law for getting this for me (haven't it all read yet but I'm really enjoying it) and finally
4. Bought this blue tile print dress from New Look, now that I see it, it looks really like the Pip Studio tiles :) Love the blue colours.
So there you have it, all the things that I like this week. Is there anything you are into this week?
Some Living Room/ Sitting Room Ideas...
As you know we moved into our new home two years ago. We have a kitchen/dining room, living room and sun room all decorated, furnished and finished. However we also have another living room, or here in Ireland we would call it "the good sitting room". Years ago most houses had a "good sitting room" which was never really used only at Christmas times and for visitors. Well I have one of those which we have not yet decorated. I can't decide on what colours and style to go for in this room. I was thinking a shade of grey for the walls and have come across some inspiration on pinterest. Below are some of my ideas, I would love to hear if you have any ideas or images which you think I may like.
Some bargains...
Picked up this Cath Kidston bag for €4.00 and this pretty tea canister in Tesco too- I love the floral patterns and the baby blue too :) Hope you are all having a lovely week
More progress on my new home & life in general....
Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I'm very busy with work and planning the new house. I'm still painting the new house, I have most of the ceilings upstairs painted and today I went to the local hardware store to pick paints. I saw this lovely Nordic Breeze paint and thought oh yes that would look lovely in my bathroom ...
I thought it was a nice grey colour as per the inspiration booklet but it's much more blue than it first looked so I am going to pick a different paint for the bathroom, perhaps a greyer colour. I picked Little Blue for our bedroom as shown below. I like this shade of blue for the room along with the white ceilings as it is very calming. One of the other bedrooms is all white and I'm thinking Magnolia for some of the others. The study, walk in wardrobe and the storage room will be white also. I ordered my kitchen this week too :) Got the granite for under my wood burning stove as well. Almost all walls inside are now plastered.
I'm picking paint from Dulux so if any of you have any recommendations along with images of your rooms in those colours I would love to see them as I don't really know what to use and also they look alot different on the walls than in the booklet.
This is how my stove surround should look when completed- I'm hoping anyway!
Next I have to buy all internal doors.
I also bought a new car earlier this month as I do so much travelling for work and petrol was getting so expensive, I bought a diesel one.
As you can imagine I am trying to save every penny/ cent I have now. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. The weather is dull enough here in Ireland. What are you all up to for this weekend?
Bright Blues
Blue hues for your home, all from Dulux paints
Are you feeling blue with the wet weather??
Hope you like these blue rooms? I do and my new home will have blue in it for sure!! The sun has just started to shine again :) Not feeling blue any longer but still love these blue rooms :)
Some Valentines Wishes & Lovely Surprises for Me!
I'm excited today, the weather is lovely and it's sunny here although very cold. I am getting anxious about starting my new job next week but also looking forward to it too. I received a lovely package in the post this morning. It was from Monika, I was her first follower on her new blog http://monikaathome.blogspot.com/ where you can follow her life moving to a country cottage, deocrating, crafting, sewing, and life in general. She is very creative and makes lovely crafty items. Check out her blog.
So here was my surprise this morning,
A pretty envelope, for valentines it had lots of pretty hearts. Isn't it sweet

Then I opened it, and there was this wonderful hand crafted Valentines Card inside :)
There were four packages inside, I opened them one by one and look what I found, some handmade magnets with All things nice... on them :)
Ain't they beautiful! and look at the wee hearts on the wrapping paper
And there was more...
Monika knew my favourite colour was blue.
It's a little pendant with Silver Swarovski Crystals
Have a closer look!
I love the blue colour, it's really elegant and the crystals catches the light so beautifully. Monika hand makes all these items, she is very talented and creative.
I am going to put it on my silver chain, I love it!!!
I'll take a photograph of it on the chain this evening.
Thank you so much Monika, you truly are a generous person : )
I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Weekend : )
The January Blues....
Just another of my interior design idea pages that I prepared last year, this one focuses on a bedroom with hues of blue. Blue reminds me of the sky, the lakes and the ocean here at home in Ireland. I love blue, especially baby blue. This bedroom has an airy feel with hues of blue from the sky, lakes and ocean. It takes a crisp white palette and adds hints of blue. This creates a truly calming and relaxing retreat which soothes and brings tranquility into your life. Enjoy!

{All things nice...}
