A Blue, Grey and White Living Space...

My living room is now taking shape. I have been talking about it for a long time now. I was on the look out for an over mantle mirror for my living room but then I bought this canvas and have decided to use it instead of a mirror. It only cost €20.00. What do you think? I have changed it a bit now with two vases each side of the photo instead of the mixed items. I have tried to kept the room in different shades of blue, white and grey to watch the chairs, furniture and white marble fireplace.

I was also on the lookout for some nice cushions for the sofa and came across these cute paisley ones for €6.00 in Primark. I think they fit in very well and look more expensive than €6.00. Who doesn't love a bargain?

And finally I bought this cute baby blue lantern for a tea light in Primark as well. I need to paint/spray my lamp base and shade as it doesn't match the room but in time I'll do this. What do you think?

Some Living Room/ Sitting Room Ideas...

As you know we moved into our new home two years ago. We have a kitchen/dining room, living room and sun room all decorated, furnished and finished. However we also have another living room, or here in Ireland we would call it "the good sitting room". Years ago most houses had a "good sitting room" which was never really used only at Christmas times and for visitors. Well I have one of those which we have not yet decorated. I can't decide on what colours and style to go for in this room. I was thinking a shade of grey for the walls and have come across some inspiration on pinterest. Below are some of my ideas, I would love to hear if you have any ideas or images which you think I may like.

A visit to Harvey Norman

It's the weekend again, the weeks seem to be flying by. Last weekend we visited Harvey Norman and I couldn't believe how much it has changed, they now have beautiful furniture at affordable prices and lovely home accessories. I bought a lovely towel in the home section. They have a stylish catalogue out now too. Below are just a few images from them. I know some people are really fed up with chevron but I still love it! I particularly like the grey and yellow in this image. This bedroom looks very country cottage but with a contemporary twist with the bedding.

Below is a lovely french style dining table and chairs with lovely accessories. I love this, however the white on the chairs wouldn't stay clean in my farming household.
And finally, how pretty is this bed? The bedding is Jigsaw from Harvey Norman. They also stock lots of Orla Kiely items.

Shopping in IKEA

Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of blogging lately, I have been busy since the New Year and trying to keep fit in the evening, which leaves less time to blog and spend time surfing the web. Last weekend, myself and my husband went to IKEA. I just bought a few items, but fell in love with the HEMNES Range and the EKTORP JENNYLUND armchair. Have you any items from this range at home? If so, I would love to hear your reviews. I hope to visit again next month and purchase some larger pieces of furniture.

Modern Vintage Furniture...

This week I spotted the New Country Range Doll Furniture from DFS. It is very feminine with lots of pastel colours. It is almost shabby chic with a modern twist. I think it is really pretty. Have you seen it yet? If not, do you like it? I love all the cute patterns- florals, birds and patch work. Although it looks so pretty I wonder how practical it is?

Antiques in Ireland...

Hello everyone. We have a bank holiday here in Ireland which is great as we get a nice long weekend. Today myself and my husband went for a drive and came across a few antique stores in a small village and an auction room in the countryside, all very different but with some really unique items. Take a look at my photos below, my favourite is the sweet rocking horse. My husband much preferred the motorbike though...

My new furniture has arrived...

What do you think? I will have to take some photographs of the room for you. The weather is fab here in Ireland this week, hence the reason for my lack of blogging. Hope everyone is having a nice week and the sun is shining where you are!

Bathroom basics...

Items for my new bathroom, will soon be ready to be installed. I'm just waiting on the tiling to be finished. They are both from Ikea.

Shopping for my new home..

Evening all, hope you are all having a nice weekend. Today I went and ordered the doors for my new home. Here are the ones I settled on below. They are knotty pine and hopefully will look nice

And I'm thinking of handles along these lines

And I went looking at furniture today as there is a sale on. Four rooms nearly fully painted and flooring next :) So tomorrow I'm bringing boyfriend to look at 2 nice suites of furniture for the snug and the sitting room. I also saw a beautiful dressing table that I love.. What have you all been up to??

What I've been up to...

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately, I have a few days off work and I'm really enjoying the good weather. I went to my parents holiday home last weekend and while there I visited a car boot sale and picked this up!

I have it out in the garage, all sanded and the handles off cleaning them. I'm going to paint it white. I am also sanding a chair to paint white too for the new house. The house is progressing well, all the bedrooms are plastered and now they are starting to plaster the entrance hallway. The door surrounds are in downstairs so it will soon be time for painting :) I'm enjoying the lovely weather and here are a few photographs of my walk in the woods yesterday, enjoy! Oh and Happy Easter to everyone :)

Lace & Crochet Furniture....

I adore all things lace, crochet and doilies too, although my friends and family always say doilies are old fashioned and dated! They obviously have no taste, just feast your eyes on these images below-
All images above are from Marcel Wanders
A new application for traditional crochet. The open structure and lightness of the works provides a beautiful contrast against solid blocks of colour.

Stools or Side Tables....

These fabulous stools are designed in Italy and manufactured in Germany using recycled mdf. Each stool arrives flat in sheet form. Just pop the pieces out and follow the very simple instructions. In true German fashion the pieces just click together and are held securely using little rubber rings, no glue or tools are required.

Available from Hus & Hem

Some Retail Therapy...

I spotted a bargain in Lidl this week. I generally don't buy in Lidl, I like to keep my shopping local but I must say I really like this country style desk in white. The shelves on the top can be sepertated from the desk as well. I might just have to pull at the purse strings this week and buy one of these for my new home :) Hope you are all enjoying the weekend.

Doors, doors & more doors...

So many choices, so many ideas, so many types, oh what to choose!! Perphaps the last one.. Have you any nice examples??
