Review of 2010

Here is just a quick look back at some of the things I blogged about in 2010. Some of you may remember a few of the blog posts but if not, why not take a look at them. I enjoy writing my blog and have really got to know some amazing people, some creative, some taleneted, some so sincere and good natured. I love reading all your blogs. So here are my own favourite posts from my blog in 2010;

January: In January I tended to be very emotional as I was unemployed. I wrote long posts but some of them are nice to read back over, others are a bit boring if I must say so... :) This is my favourite post of January when I wrote about colour or as the americans would spell it color.

February: I was very creative in Februrary and made a small rug, a wall hanging and some hearts. I also posted some images from my interiors scrapbook, take a look at this post;

March: I was busy throughout March as I got a new job in February and was getting to grips with the job. I didn't get around to blogging as much. I did  post some lovely photographs of Ireland for Saint Patrick's Day for those of you abroad, have a look;

April: I spent alot of time in April outdoors as the weather was good. Every Sunday myself and my boyfriend went somewhere for a drive or walk discovering the countryside. I also spent some time on his farm with the animals, have a look;

May: I blogged about random stuff in May. I blogged about things I love and here is just one of them;

June: Summer was here and I was full of life, visiting great houses and gardens and enjoying the long days. I also wrote about interiors and style and I revealed my BIG news to you all;

July: In July I wrote about my holiday in Edinburgh, Scotland with friends and shared some inspiring kitchen designs with you all. The weather wasn't very good, it rained a lot. Here is a post from my holiday when I visited Stirling;

August: I went to Kilkenny for a long weekend in August and the weather was lovely. I was inspired by Pip Studio, Amy Butler and Avoca. I blogged about more home interiors and some design and craft centres I visited.

September: Our new home progressed well in September and I posted some updates on it and what my new life on the farm will be like.

October: I was busy in October posting about all sorts of nice things for the new house including lights, mirrors, stoves, doors and lots of bright interiors. This was one of the updates on the new home, not much has happened since apart from the roof is now slated.

November: I blogged about Christmas preparations including crafty gifts, pine cone decorations, and handmade goodies. I also focused on more interior inspiration; beautiful bathrooms, making a splash (bathroom tiles) and wonderful workspaces. I posted about owls- owl templates and owl love you :)

December: While Christmas shopping I saw lots of lovely items I could of added to my santa list, actually if I added them all, my list would be endless. I posted about some of these including pom pom galore, handbag heaven, away with the birds and dear santa...As always though I was looking out for lovely images of kitchens online too. Here are a few I loved in December

So there you have it, a whirl wind tour of All things nice.... for 2010. I am delighted I got to share it with you all and thank you for your kind comments. Hope you enjoy it :)

I ♥ life in the countryside

As you all know my blog is all about things I like... basically all things nice... So you may have gathered that I love life in the countryside. Here are a few photographs of life at home in the Irish coutryside, some photographs of places near to where I live. I love the Irish Countryside, the tranquility, the fresh air, the sound of the animals and the life in general. In 2011, I hope that our new house will be completed and then I can move to my new home with my boyfriend, we will then live on the farm, I can't wait :o) Below are a few photographs I have taken this year when I was out and about at home :)

Update on January & my New Year Goals

Well we are one month into 2010 and it has gone by very quickly. January seemed to be the month of extremes in terms of natural forces. January started off with severely old weather, seems like alot of you bloggers experienced alot of snow, sleet, rain, freezing pipes, icicles and then some had problem with heating and no water as a result. Then came the devastating earthquake at Haiti, which was an attrocity. People all over blogland supported and remembered the people of Haiti in their donations, thoughts and prayers. Then there were floods and mudslides in Machu Picchu. For so many the New Year did not bring happiness with it, but we all live in hope that the rest of the year will improve for all those suffering people. We also remember many friends and family members who are ill or grieving, your thoughts and prayers are with them all. So overall January has been a bleak start to the year but we will look forward to Spring which is the season of renewal, birth and new beginnings.
So I am just recapping on my goals for 2010

No.1 Eat healthier so instead of biscuits with mugs of tea- replace with cream crackers, replace cake and sweets with fruit- well this one went down a treat, haha, I havent totally stopped eating my biscuits but I have cut down on them alot- so I'd say so far so good :)

No.2 Keep positive, jot down positive thoughts and ideas in my notebook- This was an easy goal for me and so far I'm still jotting down all my innovative and creative thoughts in my fairy notebook.

{My fairy notebook}

No.3 Complete my plant and bird identification booklets- This month I tried to focus on my Bird ID Booklet rather than my Plant ID Booklet. I have progressed well with this and have began to stick my sketches into the booklet I bought. It doesn't look much now but it will hopefully improve as I progress with it.

{My Bird ID Booklet}

No. 4 Study for my course- I'm still studying, I always seem to be studying something or other

{Some of my study notes}

No.5 Keep in contact with my friends reguarly- I have to admit I have probably falling down a bit on this one as the weather has been so bad I havent been able to get out much. If it wasn't frostly it was foggy. In order to visit my friends I have to drive as we live in a rural area and there is no public transport. I did a bit of catching up this weekend.

No.6 Continue with my craft projects- finish off any which are unfinished, keep practicing on my new sewing machine- Well I did finish off my latch hook rug as the corners needed to be fixed, I also did some cardmaking. I cut up all the Christmas cards so I have lots of scrap pieces for making Christmas cards next year. I have done some more practice on the sewing machine and hope to get more old material soon.

{My recycled Christmas cards}

No.7 Make more handmade projects- I haven't had much time for any new handmade projects this month but I hope to get back into the swing on things in February

No.8 Buy some blank white cards to make greeting card- Well I bought some cream ones and lovely paper and stickers too, so at least that was something :)

No.9 Continue taking photographs of my travels and my local area at home- I have taken very few photographs this month it has been very dull but I have some snowy photographs.

{Photograph from the garden}

No.10 Spend more time outdoors- Mmmm I need to work on this one

{Mute Swans}

No. 11 Appreciate those I love- Always and forever

{Love is... the little things we do for each other}

No. 12 Start a very big project (It's top secret though so I can't share with you all yet)- Yes this has started, the 'behind the scenes; stuff has started so hopefully it's progressing ok, fingers crossed.

No. 13 Declutter my walk in wardrobe which I was meant to do ages ago and sort out all my clothes- Ah now this is only January... this one can go on the Spring clean list

No. 14 Start back with my To- Do Lists as they were very helpful- I have started back with my To-Do Lists and my February one is being added to all the time, I also started weekly To-Do Lists

No. 15 Keep applying for jobs and try and not get down about them- Still at this one, I am trying my best, had interview and presentation but I will persevere until I get something.

No. 16 Improve my cooking skills- I made Shepards :) And for me its something new that I hadn't cooked before so I am trying

{All things nice.... including food}

No.17 Don't worry about little things as much- Now I really need to get over this as there are so many people all over the world who have real things to worry about, but I have to admit at times I just can't help worrying, I get stressed and upset. I panic and worry about little things. Does anyone else have this problem? This is something I really need to work on.

{Poor dog trapped on ice in Sea}

No.18 Grow vegetables- Too early for this one as the frost is still here. Poly dome should be going up in the Spring time though.

No. 19 Organise my time better- i.e schedule for the week ahead- I've been using my diary lots and as already mentioned I have started my weekly To-Do Lists

No. 20 And most importantly enjoy life :) This month I am just grateful for my family and friends and all their support, I am also grateful for my good health and everything I have got.

Some Crafty Cardmaking Supplies for 2010

Hello fellow bloggers,

It is early days yet but how is 2010 going for you so far? Did you do anything nice for the first weekend of the year? Or have you been relaxing or cleaning up after Christmas? I went to the Euro Shop this weekend and got a pack with lovely stickers and three sheets of patterned floral paper for cardmaking and I also picked up blank cards and envelopes, take a look at them below. So now I can start to make some greeting cards. It's two of my friends birthdays in February so I'll make them a handmade card and I may also attempt a Valentine's one too as I'm new to cardmaking haven't tried it myself since primary school.Weather is still very cold here in Ireland and its freezing very hard but I'm lovely and warm here at the fire. I had a few bits to finish off on my latch hook mat with the cats on it, so I finished it tonight. Now I am working on my new latch hook wall hanging. My sewing has a lot to be desired for, I made two wee hearts which aren't fully complete yet but they are very rough and ready. I will also have to do some work on my Bird ID Booklet this week too. What craft project are you working on now?
