Possible ideas for some lighting for the hallway in the new house. I like both of these light fittings. Our entrance hallway is double height and we will need a large light fitting to hand from the ceiling and also give off alot of light. I like the first fitting below which is from IKEA, however as it will be very high up I'm afraid it would become a nesting place for spiders and their cobwebs and then I will have to try and clean it very regular. The second fitting I have seen in a local light shop, it is about 6foot long and is very elegant, although it could look somewhat clinical but if I go with it my hallway will have to be very contemporary in style. Any ideas from anyone in blogland would be great, do you know of any nice light fittings that may suit? If so let me know :)
Light up my life.... :)

I love the first one.It reminds me of one of those dandelion seed heads that we used to blow away as children.I love the chandeliers that are so popular at the moment. You can get so many different styles.I would find it so hard to choose if it was me..but I'm sure it will look lovely whatever you go for. :o)
ReplyDeleteThe first one, I agree with the first comment reminds me of a dandelion seedhead. Very organic looking, I think better suited to the style of your home and the setting.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are lovely! I prefer the Ikea one though - but I'm sure you're right about the dusting. I found a fantastic lighting shop in Clonmel last weekend. They're in the gurtnafleur business park (and open only on Sat mornings at the weekend). We left with a lamp for the sitting room, a bedside lamp, a lampshade and two cushions! They had some lovely ceiling light fittings as well. I can't remember the name though. However, if you're down that part of the country at some stage - let me know and I'll get the name for you!
ReplyDeleteI love both lights, but talking from experience (there was a similar light in our old house) the first type is quite difficult to clean. I also like the chandelier style that is about just now. I also think lights like this: http://www.easylighting.co.uk/product/18256;podette.12.light.chrome.flush.ceiling.light are quite nice too! :) x
ReplyDeleteFirst one, that is fabulous. At urban outfitters they have another one you might like on clearance.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for taking the time to look at the lights I was thinking of for my new home. I think you are right the first one is more in keeping, the second one is a bit too contemporary. Crafty Mermaid, I live very far away from Clonmel, but I will keep this place in mind if I ever go that direction on holidays. Jenevieve thanks for the link, those light fittings are really pretty, think they would go really well in my living room. I'm thinking of using the globe style fitting in my sunroom as the ceiling is higher and will be in wood. Thanks again for stopping by and hope you all had a nice weekend

ReplyDeleteOh Mermaid, wow is that the IKEA light I featured above, it is beautiful the shadows are lovely, I have planned to go to IKEA the week after next with my mam, I'll be looking out for that light, I think it will look lovely in my sunroom with the higher ceiling. Thanks so much for sharing, hope you had a nice long weekend
