Bonjour a tous. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I spent the week on the beautiful French island of Ile de Re. I had spotted at least four different bloggers who visited and posted beautiful photographs of the island. It was on my "To visit" list which is getting longer and longer so both myself and my mother decided to go. The flights were only €34 return and the accommodation was cheap too. It felt like we had the island all to ourselves for the week. There is a bridge between the island and the mainland which is really handy. Once we got to the island though we didn't venture back to the mainland until we had to come home. We stayed in the village of Saint Martin de Re which is one of the main villages on the island. Saint Martin de Re is also a World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO due to its star shaped fort which adds to its charm. The photos below were taken on the evening we arrived. The sun was setting over the port in the village.

Autumn time is one of my favourite times of the year particularly here in Ireland. The weather gets cooler but the air is much crisper with lovely sunshine and the most amazing sunsets. I was under the weather this past week with the cold but now I'm on the mend, I took a long stroll around the farm. The colours of autumn are great such an array of warm colours. Some of you may already know that my favourite colour is blue. I love pastel blues and sky blue too so it is no surprise that I love bright blue skies and the azure blues of the ocean... Where else would you get so many shades of blue than on the Greek Islands, be it Mykonos, Corfu, Kefalonia or Santorini. Below are some of my blue photos from my holidays to the wonderful Greek Island of Santorini- it is such a dreamy place...

Well Summer is well and truly over now and Autumn has set in. The evenings are much shorter & it  is getting darker much quicker. This Summer I spent a lot of time in my garden and set a lot of flowers. This weekend I hope to set some bulbs for Spring time.

This year we visited the Tullamore Show and the National Ploughing Championships, both of which were great days out. I took note of all the home grown produce at both events. Tullamore Show is Ireland's largest one day agricultural show and country lifestyle event with approximately 60,000 visitors and over 1,000 competitions taking place. This year the weather was great on the day and I really enjoyed all of the show marquees- there was one for home baking, flowers, poultry, photography and craft. There are all types of animals- cattle, sheep, pigs, horses and rare breeds along with exhibitions and trade stands.

This week myself and my husband visited the annual National Ploughing Championships which is a three day event. We went for the first day of the event. It is Europe's largest outdoor exhibition and agricultural trade show. Different types of ploughing takes place and judging takes place each day. This year 283,000 people visited the event over the three days. It was extremely well organised and there is so much to see and do. For anyone interested in agriculture it is a great day out... Below are just some photographs I took of vegetables and flowers from the two events.
