Do you live in a red brick home? These homes are in Dublin, I didn't ask the owners permission to take photographs but I was just walking up the street. The area I live in has very few red brick houses they are not traditional to our area, however some of the older railway buildings are built of brick. There are alot of brick buildings in Dublin City and also Northern Ireland but in rural Ireland the traditional buildings are mostly stone. Some modern houses are made of brick but I don't think they look as well as the more traditional red brick.

I love my victorian red brick home. The bricks are amazing they change colour throughout the day and the front of the house looks great as the sun goes down. You do not get the same with new bricks at all.

ReplyDeleteMost of the old homes around here are stone, mainly sandstone. I find it really strange going down to northern England where there are so many red bricked houses! I like the pattern in the brickwork of that house though! :) x

ReplyDeleteDo like the red brick bordered with the stone effect - we do have a few houses very similar within the outskirts of Wigan but must bear in mind that there's a lot of Irish influence in the North West of England! Have a great weekend x
ReplyDeletei love looking at houses too, all the old cottages, victorian and miss match houses in a row. i love new builds with a hint of the rustic old feel too. where my twin lives in the posh end are some beautiful houses for the rich and famous!...i love being nosey and walking around there, love all the pretty gardens too. i remember one of my ex boyfriends saying 'a house is a house, they're all the same'...but he obviously didnt look close enough and i adored looking out of the car window as a child looking at all the pretty houses as we passed in the car.

My 21st birthday gift... i loved the shops there and a big old tea room, though i cant remember the name of it very posh looking x
Great to have photos of home up here! :) I do love those Dublin houses, the New Zealand ones are mostly wooden (brick is not a good idea in an earthquake) and while they're cute, they don't look so solid!
