Seven Things I love about Where I live...

My good friend Karen from Tilly Rose, passed the "Make me Smile Award" on to me, thank you so much Karen your Blog Tilly Rose always makes me smile and as requested in return here are Seven Things I love about Where I live... they make me smile lots and create a great sense of belonging and pride. Here goes;

No. 1 Our lovely lakes at home, the one below is just a field away from my house, no matter what direction you turn from my home you will come across lakes. In our County alone there is said to be a lake for every day of the year.

No.2 Our country houses, dotted throughout the rural area, I love exploring these grand houses and getting a glimpse into what life must have been like living in such magnificent surroundings.

No. 3 Our windy country laneways which are very narrow but create a great sense of the unknown around each corner, we have high hedgerows along most of the laneways so your always wondering what's behind them or around the next corner you turn- It's always a surprise :o)

No. 4  The sky from my bedroom window throughout the year

No. 5 My family and my boyfriend are what make my house a home and my space a place in the world. They bring all the love and joy to my life :o) They are somewhat camera shy so no photographs of them- sorry, but just imagine very good looking people with friendly smiles and warm hearts :o)

No. 6 My belongings... I have way too many favourites to start posting photographs but here are a few. The first is my wee tattered and torn teddy, the second photograph is a crochet handbag my gran made which I dyed (she has since passed away) and the final photograph is of the organ she left to me.

No.7 And last but not least the green green grass of home...

First Sunday of Summer :o)

Hope you all had a nice weekend, it's a bank holiday weekend here in Ireland so I get an extra day off work :o) This weekend was the first weekend of May and Summer too. The weather isn't very warm though, although Sunday was sunny at times we had lots of small showers. I didn't go anywhere very far, there was a honda 50 run on but we didn't make it in time, so instead we headed into one of the local towns and took a look around the DIY store. On the way back home just up the road from us I took a few photographs of the local area. I hope you like them, they will give you an idea of how rural the area is and the type of landscape all around me...

A forgotten ruin which was once a family home...

Another forgotten ruin, now a home to a range of wildlife

A view of the forest in the background

Another ruin, with a lovely brick arch, so well built and lasting the test of time

A lone horse making the ruins home.

So peaceful and relaxing..

The sunlight reflecting of one of the lakes

So tranquil and serene

A few trees on the lakeshore

Can you spot the bird in the sky??

These are all photographs of my local area, it is dotted with drumlins and lake systems, forests and forts, farm animals and foliage. The familiarity of these elements of the landscape and the connection with the land creates a very strong sense of place for me, I have great pride and joy in spending time taking in the wonders all around me. To ramble by the shore and take a look around, the beauty there beyond compares is nowhere to be found!

Here comes the Summer...

Summer Time :-)

Yes it's Summer Time again, we all love Summer Time, when we long for warmer days, sunshine and brightness, beautiful flowers, the scent of fresh cut grass and everything alive all around us...

I was taking a look at Etsy today and came across these lovely Summer Time finds and thought I'd share them with you... Hope you like them..

Down on the farm today....

Hello my blogger friends, visitors and anyone stopping by......

Last weekend I didn't get to go anywhere nice, the weather wasn't great so it was a stay at home weekend but sometimes I think we all need time to just relax at home, catch up on chores and meet with friends and family.

So I have no Sunday Trip photos to share with you. Hope your not too disappointed but I just had to share these few photos with you. They are taken just outside the back door of our house in the garden this week, they belong to our neighbour but I want to keep them all :) I hope you like them now... They are so so cute...

Mother and wee baby lambs

{"Come on Maaa, what are you looking at?"}

{"Oh look there is a silly girl there looking at us"}

{"Pass no remarks on her and she will go away, I prefer to eat this shrub/plant"}

{"Oh go on then, I'll pose for a second for the camera"}

I'm a big child, but when it comes to cute wee lambs I love them :) So playful and full of life :)

Pet Talk- trade, share, learn and love everything in the world of pets!

Two of my good friends launched a brand new innovative website last year and it is really taking off now. They have combined their love of pets and computers to launch the website Pet Talk. It is all about pets and animals. We all love cute animals, be it puppies, dogs, cats, kittens, rabbits or even reptiles. Lots of you have pets too, they make great companions don’t they.

There is alot of interest in the website from animal lovers all over the world. It is a community and trading hub for all things pet related. Their site is a place for pets and their owners (aka you and me) to gather and swap daily tails of adventure. Having spoken to Jonathan the owner of the site he thinks of it as social networking for pets and their owners. So why not check out their new pet pages and add a pet page for your own furry friend (I did- bet you'll be able to spot my pets anyway!).

The pet pages allow you to build a profile of your pet, blog about your pet and most importantly add photos so everyone can see just how cute they really are. People can vote for their favourite pet. PetTalk also offers you a chance to share your pet stories, queries and general pet talk in the forum area. Even if you don’t have a pet you’ll enjoy looking at the cute animals. So I recommend that you check this new community and website out and get your pets featured on it!
